How we structure the work, and what we put on the line.

Every engagement is built around clear deliverables and checkpoints you can verify. Client names are withheld for confidentiality.

Case study 01 · Active engagement

Protecting key accounts through prototype-to-production scale-up

NPIQuality systemsProgram managementCross-border operations
ClientCertified contract manufacturer (ISO 13485, AS9100, ITAR)
ModelFractional program leadership, weekly hours commitment
Term24 weeks
DisciplinesQuality · Manufacturing · Supply Chain
The challenge

The client pairs U.S.-based front-end engineering with offshore CNC machining, ultra-high-purity welding and assembly. To grow, it needed to move more products from prototype to full production without putting existing customers at risk, and to keep engineering, production and customer teams aligned across time zones.

Our approach
01 · Program control

A single source of truth

  • Centralized PMO tracking milestones, tasks and deliverables across active streams
  • Weekly critical-path risk analysis
  • Status dashboards and action-item registers
02 · Customer protection

Qualification without surprises

  • First Article Inspection gatekeeping
  • Live qualification checklists: CMM reports, cleanroom welding logs, material certifications
  • Capacity-driven scaling: mitigation triggers before utilization passes 80%
03 · NPI stability

Transfer-ready from day one

  • Prototype-to-production playbook with NPI gate reviews
  • Critical-to-quality tracking boards supporting ISO 13485 and AS9100
  • Scheduled syncs between U.S. engineering, offshore production and customer engineering
The production flow we manage
First Article approval→Standard manufacture→Qualification & documentation→Full production scaling

With continuous capacity assessment keeping every stage below 80% utilization.

Case study 02 · Engagement blueprint

Scaling a multi-site precision machine shop

Procurement leadershipERPAS9100D & ITARLeadership transition
ClientISO 13485-certified CNC shop, 50+ machines across two facilities
ModelOn-site Chief Procurement Officer, milestone-based retainer
Term12 months, in three packages
DisciplinesSupply Chain · Quality · Operations
The challenge

A strong shop with high-caliber equipment was running dozens of concurrent jobs without an integrated machining ERP. Its web presence limited access to Tier-1 OEM buyers, and without AS9100D and ITAR it couldn't compete for aerospace and defense work. The owner also needed a local executive anchor while leading growth elsewhere.

Our approach: three milestone packages

The client pays for completed milestones, never for hours logged. Each package ends with a checkpoint the client can verify.

Package 1 · 4 months

Systems & sourcing foundation

  • Machining ERP rollout across the shop floor
  • RFQ quoting portal to replace the basic website
  • Material cost-reduction audit across active jobs
Checkpoint: ERP user-acceptance sign-off and portal launch
Package 2 · 5 months

Certification & OEM scale

  • AS9100D quality management system and ITAR registration
  • Technical sales engine and defense proposal pipeline
  • Sourcing and layout for a capital-equipment cell expansion
Checkpoint: Readiness for the AS9100D Stage 1 audit
Package 3 · 3 months

Leadership transition

  • Recruit and onboard a permanent Director of Operations
  • Hand off procurement, ERP and quality system ownership
  • Fourth Atom moves to an ongoing advisory role
Checkpoint: New Director of Operations reaches 90 days
